What are your thoughts on the Hawaii real estate market for 2008?

hawaii 25 Asks:

To me, I see prices falling fast. I wonder if all you buyers out there feel the same. Realtors seem to double talk or have two answers, depeding on if you are a buyer or seller. A month ago when I wanted to sell, they told me, “Sell! Sell because the market will be going down”. Now that I am in escrow, I figure I’d wait till the market goes even lower before buying again. But now my realtor tells me, “Buy, cause prices will be going up this year”. Personally, I think prices are going down at a pretty steady rate. More price drops now than ever before. Some have even multiple prices drops, inventory is up, more lending restrictions, median price has fallen year over year for the fist time in a very long time so there is a trend developing. One report said over optimistic listing prices just prolongs the natural decline in prices that needs to happen. I tend to agree. What are your thoughts?

Why do you watch and read the news when it’s all negative, exaggerated and a waste of time?

No Peace without Emancipating Asks:

If there were positives about wall street and the real estate market coming out of the mouths of reporters, don’t you think our society would benefit in a positive way in all areas of our lives?
see how negative people are? I rest my case.
maybe the monkey was curious george and did not listen to the man in the yellow hat when he was telling him to listen with his ears and watch with his eyes.

Should Pastors run the Congregation like a business and live extravagant lifestyle?

Akira Asks:

Recently, it’s on the news that three pastors of Prayer Palace in Canada lead lavish lives. Between them, the pastors have amassed a real estate fortune worth about $12 million. Each owns a multi-million-dollar country estate ( worth as much as $5.5 million), one mansion has a home cinema, five-car garage, seven bathrooms and seven bedrooms. They share a Florida vacation villa, and the pastors and their wives drive luxurious cars – among them a Porsche Cayenne SUV, a Lexus RX 330 SUV and a Mercedes-Benz CLK 320 convertible, an Audi A6S sedan, BMW 7 Series and 3 Series sedans, a Lincoln LS and Towncar, and a red, oversized Dodge pickup. However, a continuing investigation into Canadian charities has found the church devotes little money to charitable work. In fact, the church’s most recent financial statements show that only $9,443 was spent on “benevolent and charity” activities in 2005. The church’s annual “missions” fluctuate between $500 and $36,704 in the past few years.
